Petersfield Lions Club’s Presidential Changeover was held in the afternoon in Winton House garden, on Saturday 20th June, with excellent weather.
It was a well attended event by club members, partners and guests, with a buffet meal and drinks.
Outgoing President Lin Piatek thanked Sandra Manktelow for her quarterly newsletters to Lions & friends of Lions, and also to Sandra & Gill Medcalf for coordinating the afternoon foods into a veritable feast. Lin said she was very proud of the club and its generosity with funding our various causes over the past 12 months and that we needed some more bright ideas for fundraising, thinking caps on. Lin thanked everyone for their support during the year, it has been greatly appreciated.
Lin then welcomed Steve Kett as our incoming President, passing on the Club’s Chain of Office for the forthcoming Lions year.
On accepting the Chain of Office, Steve gave a short speech saying; “I have been a member of Lions for 30 years, my wife suggested that now I’m retired I ought to grasp the opportunity of taking on the Presidency. I have been a member of Petersfield Lions Club since we moved to the area in late 2019. I enjoy the companionship of the club and the immense energy of many of the stalwarts of the club. My grateful thanks go to Past President Lin and many others for their encouragement and guidance. I look forward to a great year with much needed support of the members and will do my utmost in supporting all the events and fund raising activities this coming year”

Petersfield Lions are always raising funds for local causes, combined with social events for the members. New members are always welcomed, we have welcomed two new members in the past year and hope they will get fulfilment in the years to come. Our recent activities include a very successful Cake Stall in Rams Walk and, with the welcome return of the Spring Festival, our Toy Tombola stall. We have also continued our support of Jasmin with her CRM therapy.
Forthcoming events include the Lion Hunt on the Heath, Saturday 25th July 11am-4pm, and the weekend of 12th/13th September the PSA testing day and our support of March for Kev.
