2011 – Message in a Bottle re-launched in Petersfield

In early February, 2011 the potentially life saving scheme “Message in a Bottle” was relaunched in the Town  by the Lions Club of Petersfield.  The scheme had been run by another organisation but has been largely moribund in recent years.

Together with neighbouring Clubs in Meon Valley, Woolmer Forest and Alton Petersfield Lions purchased a pallette load of “bottles” (over 3000 in number).  Already Petersfield has placed 800 of their portion in both local surgeries, a Housing Association and HCC Adult Services.

How the scheme works
The Lions Message In a Bottle scheme is a simple idea designed to encourage people to keep their
personal and medical details on a standard form and in a common location – the Fridge. Signs inside the front door let the Emergency Services know where this vital information can be found. Whilst the scheme is focused on the more vulnerable people in our community, anyone can have an accident at home, so this scheme can benefit anyone, including you.
