Petersfield Lions Club presented Frankie with a Large Cuddly Lion on Saturday 3rd August at The Plump Duck
This was the Prize from the Draw at our very successful “Lion Hunt”, held at the Petersfield Heath on the previous Saturday 27th July.
Petersfield Lions Club would also like to thank Ian at The Plump Duck for his very generous support of our event.
This was the first time the Club had held an event like this and it was an overwhelming success. With 11 pictures and clues posted around the Heath Pond, Children from 0-7 & 8-11 were given question papers and pencils to try to find the answers from the posters. Once completed they collected a voucher for a free “99 ice cream” from The Plump Duck. Their papers also went in to a draw for the Large Cuddly Lion.
During the day we had some fantastic positive feedback for the event from the parents and children alike, saying the children loved finding the clues and the parents loved the fact it made the children walk all the way around the pond without complaint as well as helping with their reading & writing.
The last question on the papers was, “What would you like to do to make the world a better place?”
We had some very interesting answers, including “Get rid of crime”, “be kind to bees” & “free ice creams and free seeds” and a lot of similar ones as well, “Don’t throw litter”, “Feed the world”, “Plant more trees”, “Be kind” and “Help people”. If the children remember these as they grow up, the world will be a better place.
The weather was perfect as well which helped and to finish off the day, we did a litter pick around the pond. All in all, it was a very successful event, we’d like to thank everyone that joined in and hope you all enjoyed yourselves. We aim to do another one next year.
