Operation Hope, Sunday 31st July 2022 at the Petersfield Rugby Club.
The day was planned by Operation Hope as a “Fun Day” for Ukrainian refugees & their host families, from Petersfield & surrounding villages and catered for about 100 at the BBQ lunch. It was supported and staffed by members of the Petersfield Rugby Club, the Ladies Circle & Petersfield Lions (we also supplied 100 ice creams which were well received).
For the children there were outside ball challenges, static games etc and craft activities inside as well as a cake competition – needless to say they all got eaten and were delicious.
A DJ was hired for later in the afternoon. Petersfield Town Mayor, Peter Clist attended (& his wife Linda judged the cakes). It gave the guests & hosts a chance to meet & chat/network and the day was very relaxed. Organiser Alex Gadsden (in the green t-shirt), summed it up as “a day of kindness, love & respect, sending a message of hope to those left fighting at home, as their loved ones are being looked after here”.
