Peace poster competition

— "Dare to Dream" by Alannah Hatt - TPS
Sponsored by Petersfield Lions Club

This years Petersfield Lions Club’s Peace Poster Competition (2023-2024), “Dare to Dream”, was won by The Petersfield School student Alannah Hat. The competition saw some very imaginative and creative entries from the students.
The judges, Petersfield Lions and local independent artist Caroline Strong, felt Alannah’s entry best represented the theme.
 
Petersfield Lions Club President Trevor Copping presented the winning student Alannah, along with 3 other students Highly Commended pictures, Ella, Anna & Toby, Certificates and Art shop vouchers.
 
The Competition is run every year by Lions Clubs International, it’s a way of encouraging young people to think about world peace and their interpretation of this as a piece of artwork.
 
 
 
 

– National Winner (2018-2019) “Kindness Matters” by Jemma Green – TPS

TPS Year 8 student Jemma Green who won the Petersfield Lions sponsored Peace Poster Competition in 2019, also won the District 105D and subsequently the Multiple District MD105 National Competition. Jemma’s interpretation of the theme ‘Kindness Matters’ was widely praised by TPS staff and Lions Club representatives from around the country. Jemma attended the Houses of Parliament in Westminster Palace at the Lions International UN Day, to be presented with a Certificate, cheque & framed copy of her picture. She was accompanied by Petersfield Lion President Sandra Manktelow, Teacher Harriette and mother, Kate.

Well done Jemma! Over the past few years we have run a very successful Peace Poster Competition with TPS, along with an Art Display in Winton House.

2018 National Winner, Kindness Matters by Jemma Green

For 2019, Petersfield Lions Club’s Peace Poster Competition, “Journey of Peace”, was won by TPS year 7 student Esme Ostersen.  Esme’s quote on peace was :- 

“The idea of peace is one thing, creating peace is another, but in the end it is worth striving for.”

The competition saw some very imaginative and creative entries, but the judges, Petersfield Lions and local artist Caroline Strong, felt Esme’s entry best represented the theme. 

Petersfield Lions Club President Mary Putnam presented Esme with a Certificate, a Framed Copy of her picture and a £25 book token kindly donated by The Petersfield Bookshop.
There were also 3 Highly Commended pictures by Eleanor Dudman, Ella Brotherton and Poppy Cooksey.

Esme’s picture subsequently came Second in the Lions District 105SC Competition.

Artists must be 11, 12 or 13 years of age on the 15th of November 2018. The preferred size is ISO standard A2 drawing paper. (Must be no smaller than 330mm by 508mm and no larger than 508mm by 600mm) No collages are allowed, along with NO numbering or wording to be on the poster in any language, nothing may be attached to the poster in any way, posters cannot be mounted on another surface or laminated.
