Since 1995 an annual quiz has been run in Petersfield’s Festival Hall by the Eight O’Clock Club for the benefit of Holidays for Disabled People. This is no small pub quiz – there are up to 200 players in teams of 6. Petersfield Lions have very often entered a team or two and have even won.
The Petersfield Lions have a long friendly relationship with the Eight O’Clock Club. (The club formed when the Petersfield Lioness Club dissolved in the late 80’s). So when the Eight O’Clock Club said that they were having to consider stopping the big quiz we offered our help. As from 2005 it became a joint event for the two Clubs and the future looks assured. The 2005 event beat all records and raised £1200 for Holidays for Disabled People.
The Quiz in 2006 was a record. We raised £1575 for Holidays for Disabled People. The winner was a team led by Paul Wickham. Paul was a Charter Lion (i.e. founder) in Petersfield some 30 years ago. In the picture Paul receives the winner’s trophy from Lion President Clive.
